Why Create A Blog?
With this being my first semester in the Education program I decided I needed to find a way to record my thoughts, experiences, class notes, and assignments. What better way than to blog about it? I do want to put a disclaimer out there that I do not believe my insights are of particular value to anyone else. I am doing this to share my experiences and to receive feedback from others who may have experience in teaching.
About Me
I am currently a student at Utah Valley University in the Post-Baccalaureate Secondary Education Teacher Certification Program in Business/Marketing. I have worked for the past seven years in Marketing and have loved it. I grow up in Joplin, Missouri but moved to Utah when I was 16. I met my husband in Utah and after he was released from the Army we decided to settle back in Utah. We have been married for six years and love having crazy schedules.
Why Teaching?
A couple of years ago I was responsible for creating a training class for excel at my last job. As I was preparing for that and taught a few of the classes I realized how much I loved watching them get excited for the subject matter and see things click. That was my first experience to "teaching" and loved it. But what really nailed it in for me was right after that my husband and I found out that having children would be very difficult or non-existent. I felt like that I had so much to offer so I wanted to teach Business/Marketing (because I LOVE that subject :) ) and second I wanted to share my experiences with students in hopes of them becoming someone one day. In my personal experience children need just one person to believe in them. I want to be that one person just in case they do not have someone cheering them on our supporting them.
